Appalachian Carbon Partnership
MACED promotes sustainable forest management with new site

The Appalachian Carbon Partnership, a project of the Mountain Association for Community Economic Development (MACED), is a powerful new model for promoting the practice of sustainable forest management on private, non-industrial forestland. This program is the first in Central Appalachia to compensate forest landowners for the carbon sequestered by their sustainably managed forests, linking the global issue of climate change directly to local sustainable development in Central Appalachia.

We not only refreshed the ACP logo but also updated the identity system to give it a consistent look across their collateral materials. We also created an all new website, tied it into their social media and developed an easy calculator as well as integrated their comprehensive calculator to offset carbon emissions. These calculators connect with a shopping cart where offsets can be purchased.

We're extremely pleased to have partnered with MACED in this effort to preserve forests in Appalachia.

Choices for the Future

Berea Independent School (The Pirates) boldly decided to start an initiative to reduce energy use throughout the campus. A campaign was started with a student group and the administration to not only reduce, reuse and recycle but also to spread the word to the students. The goal was to encourage the student body and everyone else in contact with the program to then take the same concepts home and compound the effort to leave a smaller footprint. We honed in on the name Pirate Power and created a look that everyone would notice and could take pride in. The mark serves as a positive reminder that everyone can make simple choices to make an impact. That led us to the tagline which summed it all up. See More

A Little Bird told us
SONG OF AMERICA BRANDING AND PACKAGING

It takes a fair amount of brainstorming and ideation with our clients to get really great branding. Every now and then we need to listen to some outside sources to fully wrap our heads around a product… in this case it was Marc's 11-year-old daughter Olivia. Our resident bird expert (and exceptional artist) had no lack of ideas and inspiration when it came to identity and packaging updates for Song of America™. In the end we had to ensure it would resonate with customers of farm/lifestyle stores as well as the preteen ornithologist market.

Josh Freese releases new EP

Just completed the CD packaging and website updates for Josh Freese's new EP, "My New Friends". This EP is a response to the four people who purchased packages from his "Since 1972" album, those packages included Josh writing a song about them on his next record (more info here).

Our second time getting to work with Josh and things keep getting weirder and weirder...Images and further project details soon.

SONOIO
"It's me"

It can be somewhat confusing, when after years of doing steady stale cubical clock punching work, you find yourself up at 4am writing code, trouble shooting for IE and toying with jquery...all the while stone sober…because you want to. Thankfully we can say it's becoming a more and more familiar feeling, getting inspired by the friends we work with, whom we feel we owe for the way they impact our lives. We're already there with food and coffee...now music. Whats next?

sonoio.org is the latest project we worked on to inspire such emotion.

Healing Art
A new name and a new look

Acupuncture Berea came to us with a request for new name ideas as well as an updated identity. Ultimately the simplest modification was chosen to avoid confusion with existing clients and network of health care practitioners. However when we looked to represent them visually - especially with the similar name, we went for a fresh, all new approach that would make Acupuncture Berea look professional and stand out.

The Black Feather Receives Updated Identity
where local food is happening

The Black Feather recently received an updated identity, collateral, menus, and website as well as new product photography to tastefully represent their unbelievable artistry to a (growing) clientele that “gets it." When we opened our little design studio in Berea, we wanted to get involved with the local (independent) food movement right away. As luck would have it we didn’t need to look any further than where we were already getting Berea’s best cup of coffee every morning! What we found was that the café supports local, independent farmers and producers to create hand-crafted food of such caliber that it would be difficult to find comparable quality in even our nearby larger cities. We do marketing for all types of organizations across all types of industries, but when a story like this needs to be told it makes our jobs that much easier.

A new look for locavores

It's remarkable that the Berea Farmers Market was founded in 1971 and continues to gain interest from local farmers, Berea shoppers, and even out-of-state visitors. In order to elevate the awareness in the community we have become involved in branding the market and especially promoting its first annual Local Food Celebration.
